Commission Cut Paper Art update
I have the great fortune to work with IndieWalls on a commission for original cut paper art. Without disclosing the final location, I will share a tiny tease tidbit of who the final artworks look... The long piece is nearly 4' in length. The two together will be a sight to see. Very excited.
NIGHT PAPER COUPLES: Clara Coquette and Hard Cory
Ever since starting the NIGHT PAPER project, I had dreams of exploring how real-life couples would relate to being dressed in surreal paper fashions, nude, standing in somewhat public spaces and posing for long exposure portraits.
I desired to see how their already-established relationship would bolster, grow, expand, augment, etc. the relationship with the lens, myself and the connection to the space, time and intent of being together on film.
I must say, I am fortunate to kick this leg of the project off with Clara Coquette (featured in previous NIGHT PAPER shoots) and her beau, Hard Cory.
We had fun on Randall's Island in NYC, exploring the periphery, looking for water, sky and a little privacy. Huge thanks to both of you for being simply amazing. Wthout further ado, here is a gallery of images from the shoot.

Brooklyn Waterfront with Clara Coquette
This Saturday evening past, we had the distinct pleasure of having Clara Coquette join again for another Night Paper shoot. This time we went to visit the East River Piano, a somewhat recent phenomenon, nearly buried in the sand under the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge.
I was alerted to the opportunity by Rich Scarpitta, who visited us while at the Astoria Flea a week or three ago (and many thanks!). Apparently, we have som mutual friends, including Rob Yasinac, who authored the enxeccelnt book, HUDSON VALLEY RUINS: Forgotten Landmarks of an American Landscape.
OK, without further ado, on to the photos! I nearly dragged out the recently-acquired Corona C-1 8x10 camera, but alas, this will appear during future NIGHT PAPER shoots. My trusty D700 + LOMO Petzval Lens and Nikon 14-24mm took the situation to task.
Mermaid Parade 2014
Our dear friend (and Night Paper volunteer) Sincerely Yours invited us to march in the Mermaid Marching Band this year at the 2014 Mermaid Parade in Coney Island. It was, simply put, a fantastic day.
Fact: I had not used my sax in many, many years.
Another fact: I did not practice the music prior to today.
A final fact: We had fun anyway! woohoo!
Here is a bunch of photos shot today with my IR-converted Canon G9. Good day for it.

Night Paper Call for Volunteers - Couples
Valentine's Day is a perfect day to spread the word - we're looking for couples to work with on a volunteer basis for the next leg of the Night Paper art project.
I'm keen to make outfits for two loving people at a time. I have no preconceptions about who is loving whom, what they look like or a specific age. I want to make portraits of couples dressed in paper fashions for long exposures at night.

Night Paper: Anon in Studio
After a creative hiatus, NIGHT PAPER is back with a vengeance. Anon joined us in studio as a model for an experimental day of working out new lighting ideas, a new paper fashion and methods. I am now sewing paper, and delighted. It's a very strong bond and allows freedoms I had not imagined when devising new methods to make surreal paper fashions that last longer during vigorous movements (such as jumping).
Without further ado, here is a choice set of images from a very productive day in studio. Enjoy and share.
Sedona Winter Star Trail Stack
Went out to the airport this evening in Sedona, AZ to run a 30-minute star trail stack loping north over the valley. Enjoy!
