I’m featured today at artistaday.com!
I am humbled and excited! Today, I am featured at artistaday.com
Here is what they do:
Artistaday.com’s goal is simple. We feel artists are under-valued, under-exposed, and generally under-appreciated. We want to bring attention to artists that otherwise don’t get the attention they deserve. If we can bring their art to one person that would have otherwise missed the opportunity to see it, we feel like we have made a contribution to the art community. If you like the artist’s work, take a second to leave a comment to tell them so. If you don’t, feel free to tell them that as well (constructive criticism is always appreciated). We don’t intend to showcase all the artist’s work, in fact we only show one or two images by the artist.
Be sure to continue through to the artist’s website to find more of their work.
Please drop by and leave a comment or even a rating if you’re so inclined. Thanks go out to Geoff for finding me and asking permission to feature my work.
Filed under News | Comment (1)You Make My Day Award

Big thanks go out to Patrick Gannon, who is keeping alive an internet meme that has a good purpose. It’s called the “You Make My Day Award” and here are the rules:
- The recipients should write a post with links to 5 blogs that make them think warm fuzzy thoughts.
- Acknowledge in the post the award giver.
- Display the “You Make My Day Award” logo with a link to the original post (Optional)
- Tell the award winners that they have won by commenting on their blogs with the news.
Apparently, my site has a problem with leaving comments, which I will remedy shortly after posting this.
Thank you, Patrick, for thinking of me. I am humbled. Here is Patrick’s original post.
Filed under News | Comment (0)Anniversary of Cut Paper from Matt Hill
Today marks the one-year anniversary of my first cut paper. Hard to believe that all of this happened in one short year.
Deep thanks to all of you for your support, encouragement, appreciation, critiques, and for continuing to visit my little online home for cut paper art.
From tattoo designs to paper masks, the as-yet infant Tarot Project, my magical show at Thumprint Cellars, sometimes sketches, shirts (more to come!) and the new added content - the OnCreativity Podcast - more of those sure to come - I continue to explore my own expression of paper art as I see it.
Today I added a few links on the right, titled, “Friends and Artists”. Please take some time to visit other wonderful people that have touched my life.
I have other big plans for 2008, and I can’t wait to complete some of these larger, much more ambitious projects and share them with you. The act of creation is joy in itself, having you enjoy it only adds more to it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Matt
T-Shirt and apparel store is online!
Ladies and gentlemen… my designs are now appearing on fabrics. And you can wear those fabrics! Some people call it clothing, some fashion, and others things like “tøj”.
Shirts, hoodies and tanks for guys and gals! I started with three of my designs in 12 total styles -Debonair, Gail Wynand and Freedom:
Support the arts! Buy my shirts :D Suggestions for colors/styles always welcome. Tell me which design you want, and I’ll make it.

My deepest gratitude goes to Scott and Erica of Thumbprint Cellars. Wonderful hosts, winemakers and people, I had an outstanding time at in Healdsburg and the surrounding area. The show is stunning, and still hangs until December 18th, for those of you who can make it up to Northern California.
Also big hugs to all my new friends! What a wonderful event. Thank you all for taking time to stop and talk.
During the weekend I made tons of new sketches and (count ‘em) eight (8!) new pieces. I’ll post them next week after I get home from Cali.

We’re starting day 3 very soon! I wanted to post an update for the regular readers, and all you new folks who grabbed my business card in the last 2 days.
Opening was great! Lots of fun people showed up, and the second piece was sold.

Yesterday, I sat out front making art in a live studio:

I met hundreds of great people! Thank you all for your wonderful comments, insights and encouragement. Interest is high and it looks like many people are coming back today to pick up those pieces that caught their eye. Come early if you want to get your piece!
I also made five new pieces during the live studio. It’s wonderful to have the time to site for an entire day and make art while talking to cool people.
I must add that Scott’s wines are the perfect compliment to happiness :) It’s like music in your mouth. The Tasting Room is very hyggeligt (Danish - look it up), and the whole atmosphere here in Healdsburg is fun and warm. I am having a wonderful time. More updates to come!

Just in - The show goes up on October 30th at 6pm. Most likely viewable the next day. How fun is it that Halloween greets my art’s first showing to the public?
The opening will be Nov. 2nd, from 6pm - 8pm. I look forward to meeting you there! Full info here.
The show hangs through December 18th.

The framing is selected, and work is in progress to prepare my art for it’s first public showing! The photograph does not really do it justice! So, you’ll just have to come see it for yourself :)
One thing of note that I failed to mention earlier is that some of the proceeds from the sale of my work will be donated by Scott and Erica from Thumbprint Cellars to a local charity - The Art Bus (a.k.a the Imagine Bus Project North).
Also of note is that I am bringing all originals to this show. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see what my work looks like in it’s primary form, not after a scan (as it is on this site).

I will be making art all weekend, so drop by anytime, especially later, to see what new stuff is born via my imagination.
Come one, come all, if you happen to be in the Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley, that is… :)
Here is the Tasting Lounge, where my art will be featured:

My new friends, Scott and Erica Lindstrom-Dake, make fine wines, and call their outstanding family of wines Thumbprint Cellars. There is space in their beautiful tasting room for art (see above), and excitedly invited me to show my work to the public for six weeks starting in early November. Note: They also sell wines on their site! I highly recommend their Pinot Noir.
I will be heading out to hang the show so it’s ready for the opening on Nov 2nd and also the grand “Wine and Food Affair”, which is sure to be 2 days of tasty deliciousness. In addition, I will be doing some live art Saturday and Sunday so that visitors can watch me at work.
So, in turn, I invite you! If you are planning on being anywhere near northern California 11/2-4, please come see me at my first opening and for the Wine and Food Affair!
Best,
Matt
